I Dream of Twilight modblog
I really don't like this whole rainbow thing to be honest... Its just another thing that Meghan is pulling off that break all the previous canon just like most of season 3 final and all the new things in season 4...

bronyinabottle:

Like I told Nova. We know absolutely nothing about Rainbow Power or Rainbow Kingdom other then previews of the Rainbow Power forms. So until then we can’t really know for sure what this means. All we have is speculations. Like here’s a few of mine that I think some others are thinking as well.

-Rainbow Power is a sort of Super Form (Think Super Saiyan from DBZ) that the Mane 6 need to take care of some powerful stuff in the future. Even if the designs look silly and weird, at least the Mane 6 would still be badasses using it. It will be only used when necessary.

-Ever since Twilight became a Princess, we’ve been asking just what will she rule over or if she’ll even have a castle to herself. That’s what the Rainbow Kingdom might be about. Giving her exactly that, I believe Ponyville will still be part of the kingdom too. The castle in the everfree that was once Celestia & Luna’s will be converted to Twilight’s new Castle. Which makes it not only a good spot close to Ponyville. But the place is also a iconic, as it’s the same exact place that the Mane 6 defeated Nightmare Moon.

Also to be honest, I’ve enjoyed pretty much most things that have broken the Status Quo. Lesson Zero, Magical Mystery Cure, etc. I even like Canterlot Wedding alot, and Crystal Empire a good amount although we has absolutely no warning about Twilight having a brother, a 3rd Alicorn, and a kingdom that just pops out of nowhere after being gone for 1000 years. The only things I’ve been kinda conflicted about is how Keep Calm and Flutter On handled Discord’s “reformation” and also somewhat Daring Do being a real pony. But despite that I find Daring Don’t a good episode, and while my thoughts on Keep Calm and Flutter On change depending on my mood I at least think it’s one of the funnier episodes of Season 3. I’ll remain cautiously optimistic though for Rainbow Power. I’ll hope it turns out better then some are thinking it will, but I can understand how this could go wrong.

There is a big difference between Twilight’s personal goal and what Celestia intended her to go through..

And i do know Lauren did intended it to be but you forgot a thing even though she is Celestia’s student, she did herself told Trixie that she was nowhere close as a strong unicorn by saying that was Trixie managed to do was only for highest unicorn which she wasn’t and isn’t.

And i don’t care the slightest about what Celestia thought when she got her as her student and leading a little troop of ponies through battles as hero have strictly nothing to do with leading a nation.

As for my example? Twilight was a trainee from a school about magic and her main goal was learning magic but Celestia apparently in the span of 1 day she said fuck this you go have friends when Twilight had no interest in it and was clearly learning something called magic. Yes the show seems to make magic and friendship be the same thing but you don’t like you pointed out lift bears with friendship or change a mice to a horse with friendship. Twilight was learning an actual science and all that Celestia asked her when the show started to learn is friendship when it wasn’t even Twilight’s goal to begin with.

Sure ok Celestia’s goal is to make a princess out of Twilight… By learning friendship… But it means nothing when the way she does it something unrelated completely from Twilight’s main goal and even when some time Twilight wasn’t writing anything to Celestia about what she learned, she was always learning at least one thing in the show and she doesn’t anymore not even once since the new season. Twilight’s character was all about learning and no one just stop learning. She’s a student that didn’t even graduated Celestia’s Magic school, who didn’t even became a certified mage or even remotely as good as she said a high level unicorn is, who know nothing about leading a nation that suddenly become a Princess, which is from a trainee to a president in 10 second.

She has earned nothing. She wasn’t given something that was never wanted in the first place. Yes Lauren intend it to happen but this her was done poorly.

If you think i’m wrong fine. But Meghan and the staff after Lauren left completely broke the show and its story and even many of the mechanic already established of even those they established themselves like the Dark magic and oh god that potion from Zecora is bullshit, stupid plot device potion that make no sense.

That’s another thing. Twilight’s magic doesn’t feel anymore as if its magic but more as a stupid plot device which by itself broke the whole magic concept of the show.

I can go on and on.

You make it sound like Twilight was just another student in that Magic School. She wasn’t, from the very moment after her entrance exam. Celestia chose her to be her personal protege, not just another student at the school. From that point on, Celestia’s Tutelage was basically Twi’s Middle School, High School, and her friendship studies during the show are her college years and her Princesshood is her graduation from that. Nitpicking like this will make you realize the show’s world was broken from the very beginning. Like it’s pretty much arguable that Twilight suddenly realizing how good it is to have friends in a single night when she hasn’t before they faced against Nightmare Moon was unrealistic, and that was written by Lauren Faust herself.

Also what does it matter if being a Princess was never made clear of being Twilight’s goal eventually (Neither was being just a Wizard/Mage, we can’t be 100% sure the comics are absolutely canon to the show) She seems alright with it. The fact she said “Does this mean I’m not your student anymore?” means she took this as a sort of graduation. She expresses some fears about it in the first few minutes of Equestria Girls and the Season 4 opener. But overall, I don’t think Celestia’s trust in Twilight is a misjudgement. Twilight will grow to be a good leader for Equestria. Even if she starts doubting herself again in the present time, her friends will always be there to back her up.

I find the potion in the Season 4 Opener easier to swallow then Twilight having Shining Armor as a brother despite never mentioning him before, or a kingdom that appears out of nowhere. And as I said I still liked Canterlot Wedding (I even liked Shining Armor himself) & Crystal Empire despite those glaring plotholes.

If you feel any possible plot contrivances from Season 3 & 4 really break the show fine. But please remember this was far from the first time this has happened. And I believe the writers for the most part has at least tried to make most of these things fit in well with the show. And don’t be surprised when more comes around. For me, they haven’t crossed the line yet (Examples of what would be crossing the line for me: Making the rest of the Mane 6 Alicorns, making Flash Sentry a recurring character as Twilight’s coltfriend, and/or introducing a 7th Element of Harmony). As everything else has been tolerable so far (Shining and Cadence? Canterlot Wedding was awesome and they were nice characters. Crystal Empire out of nowhere? Some particular scenes in Part 2 I REALLY REALLY loved like the Fear Door Scene. Alicorn Twilight? It was 100x more justified then both the previous examples and made sense to me when I thought about it even when it was just a rumor. The only exception maybe Equestria Girls, but since it’s kinda mostly separate from the show I could care less about what it means just as long as Flash Sentry’s role in the movie stays far, far, far away from the actual show.)

We might just have to agree to disagree on some of this stuff since I doubt either of us will change our stance.
