Like I told Nova. We know absolutely nothing about Rainbow Power or Rainbow Kingdom other then previews of the Rainbow Power forms. So until then we can’t really know for sure what this means. All we have is speculations. Like here’s a few of mine that I think some others are thinking as well.
-Rainbow Power is a sort of Super Form (Think Super Saiyan from DBZ) that the Mane 6 need to take care of some powerful stuff in the future. Even if the designs look silly and weird, at least the Mane 6 would still be badasses using it. It will be only used when necessary.
-Ever since Twilight became a Princess, we’ve been asking just what will she rule over or if she’ll even have a castle to herself. That’s what the Rainbow Kingdom might be about. Giving her exactly that, I believe Ponyville will still be part of the kingdom too. The castle in the everfree that was once Celestia & Luna’s will be converted to Twilight’s new Castle. Which makes it not only a good spot close to Ponyville. But the place is also a iconic, as it’s the same exact place that the Mane 6 defeated Nightmare Moon.
Also to be honest, I’ve enjoyed pretty much most things that have broken the Status Quo. Lesson Zero, Magical Mystery Cure, etc. I even like Canterlot Wedding alot, and Crystal Empire a good amount although we has absolutely no warning about Twilight having a brother, a 3rd Alicorn, and a kingdom that just pops out of nowhere after being gone for 1000 years. The only things I’ve been kinda conflicted about is how Keep Calm and Flutter On handled Discord’s “reformation” and also somewhat Daring Do being a real pony. But despite that I find Daring Don’t a good episode, and while my thoughts on Keep Calm and Flutter On change depending on my mood I at least think it’s one of the funnier episodes of Season 3. I’ll remain cautiously optimistic though for Rainbow Power. I’ll hope it turns out better then some are thinking it will, but I can understand how this could go wrong.
Most of what you said wasn’t related to what i said at all.
My issue here isn’t if the episode are good or not its that since mid season 3, they broke every established canon from the two first season, breaking the whole story and even making the Dark magic completely broken along with the actually level Twilight is in magic. Celestia saying that she finished her study when like 6 episode before, she clearly stated that she was no where near close to the end of her study and her or even a mage.
Its like taking a trainee that work at the white house who know nothing about anything wet and hey you’re now president!!
Not only that but even the element of harmony are also broken. I already reviewed them and until season 4 premiere, everything was making sense but now not at all and all they do is discard it for another something that will obviously be the rainbow power and some other bullshit.
Daring Don’t is also broken. Not really Daring Do being an actual character which is already dum, but that whole thing about the sun and that artifact.
Twilight not learning a single thing since the premiere along with her doing things kinda out of character especially that time in Rainbow Falls with her telling RD that deciding to not decide isn’t a decision when she is extremely likely to do that or even just choose the bad decision like in A bird in the hoof or lesson zero.
Twilight’s whole character resolved about learning things and she don’t anymore while everypony else does. Sorry but that doesn’t work. Everyone always learn and Twilight’s friend where friend together before she even came in the scene and that she was totally asocial. And no they are telling me she doesn’t get to learn anything anymore but everyone else does? Bullshit.
And all those new spells that come out of nowhere when before they at least explained them or showed Twilight learning them but nope and now they pull out some stupid things like Flutterbat with an explanation as of why she transformed that make no freaking sense.
Twilight is broken and the story is broken. So those whole rainbom key and kingdom, i don’t buy it. Twilight is nowhere near close of being able to rule a land and she never ever even showed any interest of being a princess. It was forced onto her when her goal was clearly either being a mage or a librarian, heck even in the damn comic its actually said by herself.
There is hundreds of ways they could have made that work but they had to freaking break everything and take the path where it makes the less sense possible.
I’m sorry to say it but Twilight’s isn’t Alicorn material. She isn’t Princess Material either.
This was my point.
First of all, your president example isn’t the same as Twilight’s situation. Promoting Twilight to a Princess isn’t the same as just taking some intern or random person who works at the White House and suddenly making him or her president. Twilight’s a national hero along with her friends, plus ever since her entrance exam she’s been Celestia’s student. What else would be the reason Celestia has trained her all this time for? And being a Princess also requires some really wizard-like skill of magic in the first place. We’ve seen Celestia, Luna, and Cadence do wonderful feats of Magic. Twilight herself has done amazing things prior to being ascended and that may be because of Celestia’s tutoring. Twilight’s also shown to be a good leader, she’s made mistakes such as Lesson Zero but that’s just grounds for character growth. Episodes like Games Ponies Play, the Season 4 Opener, and Twilight Time are proof she’s learned to keep herself calm under pressure.
I don’t think the Daring Don’t thing is a big deal. Since well like Indiana Jones, Daring Do always wins. While I say there was a bit of a charm about Daring being a fictional character in an already fictional Universe. There was nothing that explicitly said that Daring and her exploits were never real. Daring Do’s exploits being real is about as universe breaking as Pinkie’s Pinkie Sense, Fluttershy’s Stare, or I don’t know… a world of technicolor magic talking ponies? :P
On stuff like Flutterbat and while you didn’t mention it, the Breezy spell. Twilight back in Season 1 lifted a giant astro bear, lulled it to sleep, and levitated it back to it’s cave all after another. She also transformed Mice into horse-like creatures and an Apple into a Carriage. Tell me how it’s bullshit that she’s able to do the stuff she does now that seems impossible when it’s quite obvious she’s grown even stronger in Magic since Season 1.
Rainbow Falls is probably the one episode of Season 4, I thought that was kinda really bad. I won’t defend that episode.
Also when was it said that Twilight wouldn’t learn anymore? Twilight asked Celestia if she wasn’t her student anymore. Celestia said “Not in the same way as before”. Meaning Twilight still has something to learn, just not exactly how it was in previous seasons. (Heck Pinkie and AJ were the only ones to send a letter through out all of Season 3. So the Friendship Lessons kinda became null and void by Season 4 started. The diary we got in Castle-Mania is a more natural way of doing this)
Tell me this: Why would Celestia have put Twilight under her wing, if all she were to be was simple librarian? Or even just as a magic wizard detached from friends like Starswirl was? There had to have been a reason other then just “Twilight must free my sister, defeat nasty villains for me, and then grow old in a library someday and die”
Also one last thing: Twilight’s future to be a Princess was intended from the beginning. Perhaps not in the same way, but Lauren Faust stated in a video interview that Twilight’s destiny in her vision for FiM was to succeed Celestia by the end of the series. Now tell me how that would be achievable without being made an Alicorn and/or a Princess as easily?
I’ll never agree that Twilight has not earned her status, she’s worked plenty hard for this. And has saved Equestria many times while Celestia and Luna have not in recent times. (Ironically we’ve seen Cadence save Equestria more times then Celestia and Luna did directly other then just flashbacks. Celestia tried to save the day in Canterlot Wedding but that sure didn’t work.) A Princess’s role in Equestria also serves as a last line of defense, for if they’re defeated Equestria is Doomed. And Twilight’s toughed out many threats to Equestria, and has learned alot in her time in Ponyville. Having Twilight as a Princess, her friends being a sort of unofficial Knights of the Round Table as well. I feel currently is one of the best ways they could have taken Twilight’s character.
