I Dream of Twilight modblog

Me and Spike have always had an Unique relationship. We’re in no way related. But because the circumstances of my entrance exam that led to his birth, and the years he’s been my assistant. I feel intense responsibility for him. It’s unique enough that it feels very different between a sibling relationship with hints of parent-to-child. But somehow it feels like none of those, but at the same time it has elements of both types. Like my relation with Spike can only be described as somewhere in-between.

I personally think me and Spike have a relation that is unheard of in Equestria elsewhere, maybe years in the future we’ll have enough experience ourselves to share what this type of relationship is and teach others about it. When Friendship is worth studying upon, I’m sure something of this degree will be something of note in the future. What exactly that will be is unknown. And even if it doesn’t come up for anypony else, that just makes it even more special.

It’s a big reason why I went ahead with staying an Immortal genie. I want to see where me and Spike get to as we both gain the wisdom of years and years of experience takes us with this.

though I sadly have not had the privilege of speaking yet to Genie Twilight i have been waiting with baited breath for quite some time for a day that she may yet notice me ^^ That all aside, this post in particular leads up to a very pronounced thought process I’ve been facing having to do with the connection between Twilight sparkle and Spike.

First of all, I’ve never seen the validity in Spike Romancing Twilight. Too casual and too maternal. Twilight literally birthed him, in her own unicorn way and though she was very young when it happened there is legitimacy in defining her relationship with him as a distinctly motherly one. However, I believe that, due to their respective ages as well as Spike’s intelligence coupled with Twilight’s dependency for his keen anchor to reality, they match in a sibling role very ably. Genie Twilight could not have better spoken my own opinions if she’d been using my lips.

However, I won’t deny that, because of a certain level of familiarity, perhaps Spike has gotten (In the past) glimpses into Twilight’s personal and love life that are deeper than she would otherwise consider letting her friends in on. However, the romantic illusions I could see our favorite baby dragon with for Twilight would be very similar indeed to that of “Sibling romance;” a whimsical and fantastical idea based on interpersonal comfort and mutual connection (Two very legitimate reasons to be close, admittedly) but ultimately unfeasible and dysfunctional in dynamic.

I thought it would be appropriate to make a reblog on this particular note due to having felt very much the same opinions on the subject and I do hope that Genie Twilight doesn’t begrudge me for it. Give her lots of love! ^^

Reblogging it to my mod blog. Thanks for the kind thoughts on the subject of Twilight and Spike’s relationship. Because of the nature of the blog, Genie Twilight lets me sort of outsource what I think Twilight and Spike mean to eachother in a real creative way while at the same time having fun with the concept. How the origin story goes is a good example of this.

Not alot of people really touch on this, but I truly believe Twilight and Spike’s relationship is something rarely ever seen and I’d even dare to say it’s a part of what makes Friendship is Magic unique among all other cartoons like it. Say what you will about the Crystal Empire, but the scenes Twilight and Spike worked together were absolutely perfect in so many ways. Especially when both get exposed to the “Fear Door”. I almost hope we get more scenes like that in the future, at the very least I want to see Twilight winghug Spike now that she’s an Alicorn.

Again thanks for the comment PhilosoShy. Much appreciated ^^
