Another season, yet another Maud episode. Seems the staff really did take a liking to Maud. Enough to have her get an episode at least once since her debut in Season 4.

Gotta say alot of this episode felt quite sitcom-like, and I don’t mean that just because Mud Briar happens to act a lot like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. Now whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing will depend how you feel about sitcoms (Heck I never really saw Big Bang Theory, what I hear about Sheldon is just by proxy. But I know he seems to get a mixed reception) or even just characters like Sheldon may be what decides how you feel overall about the episode.

It’s generally just a funny episode about Pinkie not liking the pony her sister deciding to date. Pinkie oblivious to how much Mud is like Maud because Pinkie’s grown up with Maud so by now she’s forgiven or even forgotten any traits that might make Maud hard to get to know. Mud’s like Maud though a little more of a know-it-all. Having to correct almost everything someone says with a “Technically”. I’m sure that’d get on anybody’s nerves. But at the very least Maud doesn’t seem to mind. We know Mud makes Maud particularly happy since we see her smile probably more then every previous Maud episode combined. Should be noted that a smiling Maud may be the equivalent of Pinkie being at her max happiness level.

As for how I feel on Mud Briar. He’s ok, I think I’ll probably need more appearances from him in order for him to grow on me. Though he’s definitely a polarizing character it seems. EqDaily had a poll that asked how the fans feel about him. And the 3 main options (Don’t care, Like, Don’t Like) were all pretty close. And I think they still are even at this point and time. Maybe as long as he doesn’t start saying bazinga, people can warm up to him, heh.

Anyway, next time we have a duo episode of Rarity and Fluttershy. It feels like it’s been a long time since we got that pairing. So could be fun. Seeya then.
