THE CART BEFORE THE PONIES THOUGHTS

This episode was pretty much one of those so-so ones. Nothing too bad and in fact had it’s moments where there were amusing things about it, just nothing too outstanding.

The most notable thing was odd enough anything involving Derpy… which isn’t really a good thing for the episode at hand. But believe me that the highest amusement I got was Rarity’s filly flashback when she got 2nd place to Derpy in Most Creative. Aside from that it also seems we have somepony (Or an addition if you’re a big fan of Derpy and Dinky) added to Derpy’s family. As we see Derpy drive with a younger colt. We’re not sure whether this kid is a little brother, cousin, nephew, or whatever else he could be. But it’s certainly something for the fans of Derpy to talk about. I just hope those that are so invested into Derpy and Dinky don’t take this as an attempt to replace Dinky. If you do love the fanon Mother and Daughter relationship with the two again there’s the possibility the colt is just a little brother to Derpy or something, and even if he is somehow a son then just have him as a loving brother for Dinky.

But otherwise on the episode itself, it’s just pretty much another episode where miscommunication between siblings ends up being the main conflict. And I would understand if people are a bit tired of miscommunication episodes that feel like they drag on the whole time. But it’s a serviceable moral. Aside from the Derpy related things though I suspect this will be a pretty forgettable episode. I’ll certainly enjoy however how many Mario Kart references are made in fan comics and/or art in the episode. The set up alone may remind a lot of people about Double Dash, the only Mario Kart with 2 characters per Kart.

Next week I’m a little concerned about the next episode. Since the premise isn’t too far off of a certain Infamous Rainbow Dash episode (Mare-Do-Well) just replace boasting about heroism with pranking. The synopsis says the other ponies will get back at her in some Zombie-like joke. Which could mean this is a Nightmare Night related episode which if so could mean it could be relatively harmless. Still even with all this considered, the writers have to find a way to make a balance of Rainbow’s pranks not being too mean-spirited but annoying enough to deserve the zombie prank. And also make sure the ponies being the Zombies don’t scare the living daylights out of Dash to the point their prank is worse then anything Dash does. That won’t exactly be easy to do.
