Gotta say I was a bit unimpressed with Applejack’s Day Off. I certainly wouldn’t say it’s a bad episode. But I’d say it’s another thing that often is not good for FiM episode IMO and that it was plain boring.

There just wasn’t much that got a laugh or even that much interest out of me. I think those who are big fans of the Rarijack pairing (Either that being just friends or something more) will probably get a lot more out of it then me.Personally the only Rarijack episode to get big praise from me is Simple Ways just for the comedy part of it though. This episode also kinda seems like a combination of Look Before You Sleep, Apple Family Reunion, and even a little bit of Spike at your Service. Which isn’t exactly a good combination considering what I’ve said about those episodes. Now I think this episode is better then all three of those episodes at the very least but that may only because it doesn’ have a big issue I have with it like with Look Before You Sleep or Spike At Your Service, and while it’s still dull I think Apple Family Reunion overall was still more dull this one.

Little moments like Rainbow Dash’s spa things were kinda cute and I was kinda relieved that the episode didn’t decide to go another way with the episode possibly having Twilight and Spike getting all the focus and just messing up everything while Rarity and Applejack were at the spa. Even if that might of upped the entertainment value it’d feel like it’s repeating a few things with Spike at your Service especially if Spike himself messes up things.

I think another route could of worked though if they made it like a tame version of that one episode of Spongebob where Squidward lies to Spongebob about running errands so he can take a day off. Have Applejack go to the spa with Rarity with no issues, but she has the feeling in her head like Twilight’s going to overthink things and do stuff like use magic that might make things worse around the farm (Possibly remembering that one time at Winter Wrap-Up with the snowplows) complete with AJ Imagination bubbles. It’d also relate to AJ’s overprotectiveness nature that was shown a few times in Season 4.

As it is though the episode just has weird things about it and again not an episode I’d choose to watch over many others.

Tomorrow’s episode could be very interesting though with the introduction of Fluttershy’s brother. I honestly don’t know where it will go. But either way it should be a lot of fun seeing Fluttershy’s family for once. We rarely get anything about the Pegasi main characters so there will certainly be at least something to cherish about the episode.
