Alright the end of the trilogy of Rarity episodes. I’m sure many Rarity fans were happy to have three episodes of a row of their favorite pony having the spotlight for 3 weeks in a row. As it probably makes up for the fact it took so long after Sweet and Elite to get a real Rarity episode which if I remember correctly didn’t happen until sometime mid-Season 4.
Now to be honest with Friendship Games airing on the same day, that movie kinda stole the show for me. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the episode. My favorite things were the continuity nods such as Coco’s return as well as near future continuity nods such as apparently the upcoming Sisterhooves Social related episode will happen at the same time chronologically with this episode. Which is really neat. I also loved Twi’s bored scene at the beginning and yet again she’s met with disappointment that she’s not called in to the map just like the beginning of the Griffonstone episode (Thankfully for her thanks to a Netflix Synopsis leak we know she’ll be going with Fluttershy somewhere. Which should be interesting, we don’t get a lot of Twilight and Fluttershy interaction.)
Also plenty of good character moments happened between Rarity and AJ while in Manehatten. AJ skeptical of Rarity’s thinking that a pony buying a hat that clashes with her color scheme being one was amusing. Though when AJ is working on the stage later on, poor AJ’s hat. Lots of damage happens to it. It even gets thrown in the trash. I know some people who had the headcanon that her hat is a memento of somepony dear to her (Like maybe one or even both of her parents) might of been a little upset with this. Though I think they quickly rebounded by saying that she actually has many duplicates of the hat, and the real memento hat is somewhere she hides in a special spot.
The play has some ponies who probably aren’t the best actors really as you could see. But I don’t think the quality of the play’s acting was the point. It’s a nostalgic thing for at least that part of the community of Manehatten and they greatly appreciated the revival enough to at least temporarily stop their big city mindset we saw back in Rarity Takes Manehatten where ponies didn’t appreciate having others get in their way.
Anyway, I think that’s all I gotta say. Sorry if it isn’t much, but again I think most of my thought process was spent on collecting thoughts over for Friendship Games. Cause it really blew me away. I believe next up is Brotherhooves Social though which as this episode basically implied goes at the same time chronologically. Might be quite interesting to see how that goes. Seeya next time! ^^
