RARITY INVESTIGATES THOUGHTS

As you can see already I went with an Ace Attorney reference again. Just because I got into the series this year and with an episode where one character is trying to find another innocent. I couldn’t resist doing another fun reference to it. Even if it’s not quite as elaborate since there’s no animations this time.

But anyway on to the episode itself. I felt it was just ok. Definitely some enjoyable moments like the interrogation (Or shall we say for Rarity, possibly flirting heh) of the guards and the immediate return of Sassy from the previous episode (That’s gotta be a new record for a new side character showing up again not counting two parters). Though Wind Rider being the culprit not to mention his motive basically making him out to be a jerks felt as predictable as some of those old Scooby cartoons right down to being the first pony of interest the main characters of the episode come across. I think I’ve seen a few people think of some ways to not make it like so, like for example I believe I saw somebody say they could of had Wind Rider’s motive be that she wanted Rainbow Dash in the show so that she could break her record eventually in a passing the torch kind of way. Maybe to make sure he still got punished, he had a grudge with Spitfire. I’ve seen others suggest something similar with Spitfire actually sending herself off to let Rainbow go in her stead. Which would be clever but then again I think that just would of ended with them letting Rainbow fly with them anyway.

I’m not saying the predictability ruins the episode though, as I said it was still fun at points. And there is a few similarities that I could personally find with what you do in Ace Attorney games. Rarity examines the Crime Scene even stuff that seems trivial, questions characters on even just the little things, and ultimately having decisive evidence on the real culprit. The only thing it misses is really the plot twists that happen often in the AA games. Oh it’s also a shame we didn’t at least get Rarity yelling an objection, even if it wouldn’t have been intentional that would of been fun.

I can say for certain this was a better Wonderbolt involved episode then Rainbow Falls was last season though. Even though some may be thinking that yet another questionable moment from a Wonderbolt was done and makes people ask why Rainbow still wants to be a Wonderbolt after both the events of Rainbow Falls and this episode. Which I actually disagree even though you guys know I disliked Rainbow Falls. I think this actually gives Rainbow another reason to join the Wonderbolts. She’ll stick her ideal view of the Wonderbolts she had as a filly and make sure that really is the truth. She’ll put both old and new members of the Wonderbolts in-line and make sure they’re who she thought they were. When Rainbow Dash becomes a Wonderbolt, she won’t stand for ponies who may end up disgracing the past like Wind Rider, nor reckless newbies like Lightning Dust. I see Rainbow quickly standing over even Spitfire and Soarin’ as a huge influence on the Wonderbolts organization. Even if you feel Rainbow should be utterly heartbroken by seeing the flaws of her heroes by now, I think it’d ultimately drive her to join even more. Rainbow Dash doesn’t let go of her dreams, she makes it happen.

P.S. BTW yes, I did see the leaked 21st episode. I won’t actually say anything about it until the episode premieres on TV though. As we have at least 4 Episodes AND Equestria Girls 3 to get to before that episode even officially airs.
