That’s three in a row, and what a 3rd of that row! I can’t actually decide if I liked this one more then the Discord ep this season not only just because the episode itself was good but the meaning behind it goes beyond boundaries that not many shows can say they have.

As we’ve been told, this episode was for the fans. The best way to describe it that it was a love letter to us all from Hasbro (Indeed it has been confirmed that it was Hasbro themselves that chose to have the 100th episode not the staff, not that it matters since it definitely seemed the staff enjoyed doing this for us pretty well). We got to have a moment where many characters who only made seconds of appearances in multiple episode but have somehow gained quite a following just by their designs and/or the little things they did.

But anyway in just one episode we got: Cute Derpy, Doctor Whooves (Even given a british accent), Vinyl and Octavia living in the same house, Bon Bon and Lyra saying they’re best friends but their faces telling us it’s a little more then that, Steven Magnet returning, Twili-Scepter returns, and there’s probably so much more that were just too subtle and/or too much to remember all at once.

There were worries for sure on whether the staff could pull off a fandom love letter episode that could of easily been just fanservice after fanservice after fanservice as opposed to actually giving some sort of coherent story. But I had faith they could especially when I heard M.A. Larson was given the nod to write it. You could say I believed in M.A. Larson, hehe.

And he didn’t disappoint, the story was set so you could focus on multiple ponies as they’re getting ready for the wedding between Cranky and Matilda. And the moral at the end keep things in full circle that it’s more then just the main characters that shine. Which works both in-universe and meta wise because it’s thanks to the fandom that most of the characters featured got their chance to show themselves in this episode as it was us that expanded their characters or even named them ourselves. And the episode just did an excellent job with pretty much everyone.

But on a final note, I am glad this show has gone far enough to even reach this point. It’s not easy for any cartoon to get more then 100 full 22-minute episodes. Even some of the best shows of the past cannot say they had that many whether it was because the show had a set length and/or the show ended before they could reach that point for whatever reason. I think without the huge support we’ve given it, Magical Mystery Cure would of likely been the series finale instead of the tentpole episode that brings us out of the first 3 Seasons into an entirely new part of the show. It is thanks to use that we saw a Season 4, are in the middle of a Season 5, and are likely headed to a 6th, and even getting a full fledged movie 2 years from now. The 100th episode was made in appreciation to us, and I hope that the majority of us can give back some appreciation of our own as we continue on. Slice of Life is living proof of how much both Hasbro and the Staff appreciate the love we give the show and it will never be taken away

I just want to say thanks to everyone involved with the show regardless if they’re writers, voice actors, animators, etc. They all are very generous people to do something like this for us all and I hope for the most part they get the credit they deserve for their kindness. We could say the fandom and the staff have a mutual thing going on. They provide a great show to watch every so often, and we provide them the means of which to continue going and even have fun with them on occasion (Ex: When any staff member is a guest at a Con). Whether or not Slice of Life ends up being the best of the season so far, we can’t deny that even if it wasn’t the best of the season it sure was still full of good quality and intentions and showed something not many other shows get the chance to do. 

The episode itself was a big thank you to the fans, and I think we should all give our own thanks in response. We wouldn’t be here without the other. ^^
