Ok while you have made a good point about how Sonic 06 isn't worthwhile regardless of the hilarious glitches/bugs, that still doesn't give Rise of Lyric a free pass for being more boring by comparison. I recommend checking out the reviews from more popular and experienced gamers like ProJared and Jim Sterling (Thank god for me) who have actually talked more in depth about the game, instead of a review from a Sonic "fanboy".
It’s boring but it’s not as much of a gauntlet to go through. Even people who go in playing Sonic 06 just to see how bad it really is usually just give up pretty early on especially if they’re told just how much or how bad some of the things coming up are. You could be laughing it up and be somewhat masochistic when going thorough the first levels or so. But knowing you still have a lot to go through can really strain things, especially as the game gets even worse and worse as you go on.
Rise of Lyric is much shorter, the characters are actually fairly playable, and on normal circumstance it’s just a mediocre action platformer that just doesn’t stand out.
Sonic 06 certainly stands out more then Rise of Lyric. But for all the wrong reasons.
