I Dream of Twilight modblog

Two unwelcome visitors came to Smash Bay Island. My Mii set out to kick them out!

Wait… this isn’t Tomodachi Life

Hehe, just a silly thing where I’m using my own Mii to beat up what are pretty much my punching bags in Smash 4. If you follow Smashing is Magic you’d know that Rainbow doesn’t like either Dark Pit or Dr. Mario being in Smash 4 much. And I’m pretty similar in that sense, you could say Rainbow represents a certain side of me regarding Smash Bros xD

300+ Followers Contest Thing

Sal Mod: Ok, apparently Mod can’t make up his mind about what to do for the followers, having passed 300 followers, so tell you guys what. Reblog this post with a ref of your OC, perhaps, say, 6 of you. Those 6 will be in the followers pic. If I get more than 6, I’ll use a randomizer thing to choose who gets drawn.

Come on guys, only got like 3 refs, keep them coming!

((Well with that the Origin Story has come to an end. I want to thank everyone of you for reading all the way through. And hope you enjoyed the pretty long story. It wasn’t heavily detailed for most of it, but I did want to leave things open in case maybe specific questions come in or something else of another matter comes up. I’m glad to have shared the full story, and starting first thing tomorrow I’ll get right back into answering questions. It was a heck of a lot of fun making all 40+ of these images that are able to describe what just went on in Saddle Arabia for both Twilight and Spike. I hope Malakhar and Kubuya came off as at least somewhat decent characters even if they’re essentially the only Saddle Arabians that got names and thus had a pretty big role in the story. More so Malakhar then Kubuya. I wasn’t trying to make this the most detailed story to justify the making of this blog. Now that the origin story is over, I can go back to the fun of answering questions (Once again starting first off tomorrow). I doubt we’ll see another long storyline like that one. At least not so soon. So don’t be surprised for whenever I decide to end updating this blog that this still ends up being the biggest thing I’ve done for it. Because I really don’t see a larger storyline happening in the near future.

For now though I hope all of you are enjoying a feast and having a good time with your family for Thanksgiving, Happy Holidays!))

That was fucked up beyond belief, I’ve never been a fan of Alicorn Twilight and for her to jsut decide to keep something taht was forced on her, that just ugg!

and I thought the fandom had reached it’s lowpoint ages ago, this was just wrong, giving her a hard time limit and not letting her ever go back to normal was the most fucked up bad plot idea ever.

Note: I don’t know exactly how long ago this comment was made. But I don’t care anyway. I need to address this.

Listen firerush, I don’t think you payed enough attention to the story.

Yes, the Genification was forced on her. But the stallion who did it (Malakhar) had his reasons, and was even apologetic for the entire rest of the story. Even when Twilight had decided to remain a Genie, and would of been satisfied enough even if Twilight had gone back (Cause he would at least had achieved his Grandfather’s last wish even if just for a short time). And being a Genie in context of the universe of this blog is different from the stereotypical Genies that are just essentially slaves. Twilight was not happy about being a Genie because that’s what she thought was done to her. But when she realized that it’s not that way at all and in fact benefits her more so then it does harm. (She’s a genie that can say no and not have to grant the wish she objects to, for one thing and with this being loosely based on canon she even proceeds to continue her life as normal).

But there’s another thing you totally missed about this. The main reason Twilight remained a Genie, was for Spike. Even knowing the benefits and everything, had Spike not done all or most of what he did during the Origin Story. Twilight would have got herself wished free before the time limit. And that’s another thing, the time limit being the “most fucked up bad plot”? What would of made it better? Having no Time limit? So that Twilight could be free to be a Genie as long as she wants to before letting go of it on some random point where she’s done with it? Having it so that her genification was permanent for a very long time from the get-go? This is a blog that wants to have a little Genie fun as well as keep the positivity of the show it’s based on. How is making Twilight stuck with it no matter what uphold to that ideal? The Time Limit overall still gave Twilight the choice, and without it. Her decision to stay one mostly for Spike would be made less meaningful.

Which getting more into Spike, this may be on the surface just a Twilight’s a Genie blog. But it also has deeper elements with Twilight and Spike’s relationship kinda like a shipping. But this isn’t the romantic type of shipping, this is a completely different way at looking at two characters with a bond that is very much like a Mother-and-Son’s one and about a year after the fateful trip to Saddle Arabia. They made it official by adopting eachother as such. Maybe it’s overexaggerating their actual relationship in the show. But in I Dream of Twilight Sparkle, Twilight and Spike are closer then most usually see it. It gives another meaning to this blog to have another interpretation of Twilight and Spike and what they mean to another even if the much more popular one is they’re just Older Sister and Younger Brother. Again it’s like a shipping that’s going to exaggerate the positive traits of the relationship between the two so that people can get why they’re together in an askblog, fanfic, fancomic, etc. but again this is a different kind of shipping that’s neither the romantic kind or just normal friendshipping that’s not as common but I feel works very well between Twilight and Spike because they feel like the rare duo of characters that can really be interpreted this way (I don’t think there’s even a proper term of “shipping” two characters in a parental bond is there?). One of my favorite scenes in all of Friendship is Magic is the Fear Door scene (From Crystal Empire, Part 2) when Spike takes a look into it revealing his biggest fear is Twilight sending him away. I don’t feel that’s a Older Sister-Little Brother fear. I definitely think that leans toward some sort of motherly bond that the two share that no matter how many times anyone points toward the one Winter Wrap-Up line of “You’re not mommy” is not going to take it away. Twilight in I Dream of Twilight Sparkle deeply cares for Spike, and her being a Genie means she’ll be there for him for a very long time.

So in short, yes. The genification itself was forced on her. But even the one who did it to her had good intentions. And Twilight still had a choice in the matter. That ultimately was decided by her bond with Spike. If you disagree with how the story went. That’s fine, but to call something like this “the fandom’s lowpoint” is way too far.

I don’t normally post videos. But I really think this is something special to me. I myself is someone who lives and have had to grow up with Autism. And this video that explores more depth into the more common theory that the Smash Bros. series is about a kid playing with his toys while Master Hand is the kid’s hand.

It’s left me with more appreciation for the Smash Bros. series when I thought I couldn’t appreciate it any more considering it is my favorite video game franchise. This video has just moved me completely. And I simply must share it as much as I can.

If you have the time, please give it a watch. Cause it even explains autism better then most common sources do.

Honestly my favorite fighters for Super Smash Bros. 3DS so far would have to be, Mii Brawler, Palutena, Ike, Robin, and Pit in my opinion. Now if you completely disagree with me having these as my and other people's favorite mains, then I don't know what to tell you.

Wha? I would never disagree with people about something as silly as what they choose for Smash Bros. mains. o.O

What's the first thing you're doing when you get Smash 4? I'm gonna make a Mii Fighter first, then jump into Classic Mode with Mega Man

Probably Training Mode with Sonic.

I’ve been hearing some pretty good things about Sonic in Smash 4. And I want to get used to the 3DS Controls for a bit first. (Though the Demo has helped with that a good amount) And see just how good Sonic is compared to him in Brawl for myself.

After that, I’ll probably head into Vs. Mode and do 120 matches to unlock all the characters. Just because that won’t take too long. Compared to how Melee made you do ONE THOUSAND matches to unlock all the characters via Vs. Match number. (Which is why the other method of unlocking the characters were far better, even if there were still a few annoying ways to unlock like Mewtwo’s. You could leave your Gamecube on the entire night, but it’s still a ridiculous unlock method :P). Also create a Mii FIghter of myself quickly.

Then I think I’ll start the process of going through Classic Mode with every character.

Wait, are the Ask Genie Twilight and Smashing is Magic blogs two completely different things? I'm just curious because Twilight and RD were talking about it on the former.

They’re different from eachother.

The Smash Bros. (And video game references in general) references I did in Genie Twilight are just for a little fun. Cause sometimes I just feel like doing something for Smash because I’m really excited it for that time. Considering I’ve done cameos of other cartoons as well with the Animaniacs (When I found out Animaniacs reruns were coming to the Hub) and Cosmo & Wanda from Fairly Oddparents (Done when an asker did a Fairly Oddparents reference in an ask). It’s all just fun with referring to other forms of media that I like. I do it only every now and then, I think for the most part the blog’s mostly still just Genie and/or Pony stuff. Nothing wrong with reaching outside the box every once in a while right?

The Game Genie joke from the last time I referenced Smash in a Genie Twilight update was just too priceless to do as well.

Ok yes I didn't like how poorly written Sunset was in the first movie either. However, I honestly feel that having her go through a believable redemption arc in Rainbow Rocks was great, and in part ended up with her becoming a fully fleshed-out and likable character, and really made up for the mistake of the first film (at least for me). But that's just my opinion on the whole thing overall, and I hope you'll respect my views for the movie, just leave it at that, and move on.

I do, you have nothing to worry about. I was just getting my personal thoughts on the movie and I do think even if I didn’t like it as much as you did. I still thought it was at least much better then I expected it to be.

I think it did it’s job in convincing me of wanting to see more of which the first one really lacked. The sequel that I didn’t want at first ended up making me actually want more. I think that’s a compliment on it’s own.

And I’m ready to move on. Smash Bros. on the 3DS is out at the end of this week. I’ll be focused alot more on that as soon as that’s out xD

(P.S. I know you mentioned the Boxtrolls in your other message you sent to me. I haven’t seen it, to be frank I don’t go to the theatres for every animated movie. As the last one I did go to the theaters for was Wreck-It Ralph. So I have absolutely no context when you say Rainbow Rocks was better then Boxtrolls :V)

Also, despite how much you wanted it to be about Human Twilight instead, it's not, and you know what, I'm happy with having Rainbow Rocks be mostly about Sunset's redemption and character growth. So I still don't know why you can't appreciate that and respect my and other bronies opinions.

Why do you keep pointing the finger at me whenever I’m giving my thoughts out on as if I’m always I don’t respect other people’s opinions? I have never said such things of the sort. I completely understand and respect the right people have the right to disagree cause it’s all our own thoughts. Even though I may have not been as positive as others have been, I was still mostly positive about the film anyway. I’ve said many times it’s a clear improvement from the first movie.

And on my interest in Human Twilight Vs. Sunset’s character arc. Blame how the first movie portrayed Sunset. And I’m fine with this movie focusing on that because at least it’s a good first step to making her a better character. It’s just going to take more then this though for me to be more interested into her character because the first one did barely any justice to her. Human Twi on the other hand will have so much potential whenever we get to that, that I am interested to see where they go with that.

Also the only time I said I was hoping Human World Twilight was in this movie was before we knew Pony Twilight was coming in (And before we knew the full extent of the context of the movie). I only said what I said about Human Twilight in my thoughts because at least now I know that they will cover that in the future in either the spin-off show and/or a 3rd EQG Movie. I was not saying that I would of rather have had Human Twi in Rainbow Rocks in my thoughts.

A 7/10 Sequel is very much a good improvement over the 5/10 original and I can see clearly that EQG2 is very much the better film as a result. I can’t give it any higher though because it’s still not perfect and some of the problems with the first movie lingered on to this one. And at the very least, the teaser at the end alone makes me wouldn’t mind a 3rd film should it come to that. So in that way it was a very successful film in making me want to see more even though I wasn’t too fond of the first movie. It definitely went way ahead of my rather low expectations. To see it actually end up be a good film was surprising.

Even so, I did finally just want to see it and get this over with. At the very least the EQG series is taking steps so it can finally be considered completely separate from the Main Show. It’s just been a big fear of mine since the conception of EQG came out that it might end up affecting the Main Show in a huge way. Especially something like introducing Flash Sentry as a recurring character in the main show (As in beyond his 2 cameos in Season 4) just because of the relationship in Equestria Girls. There’s just things that I still find conceptually wrong with the EQG series that would be more tolerable if it was just made separate from the Main show rather then having to bring Pony Twilight into the whole thing. So consider me relieved that Rainbow Rocks has put this spin-off series in a much better direction then I was afraid it was going to at first. If all goes well in the future, I might start appreciating Rainbow Rocks alot more because I do care when an episode or movie has an impact on the future of a franchise and/or show because in the Main show in particular. Episodes I really loved even initially like Lesson Zero and Magical Mystery Cure continue to grow how much I love those episodes as their impact is made prominent later on in the series. And Rainbow Rocks could do the same for the EQG series as long as my fears that I had before, during, and after the first movie aired don’t come into fruition.

Though the one of the problems I had the first film is both how they handled Sunset's character and the climax/ending. Which I feel were both addressed big time for Rainbow Rocks. And part of what makes Sunset in the sequel so likable and a great character is her fortitude. I think it that's why I feel that I shouldn't be called Rainbow Rocks but Sunset Shimmer: The Movie. And even if you still don't like the character, the movie actually implies that she still has a lot more to learn.

I think I mentioned that when I answered your other Sunset ask. I think Sunset still has to do much more then she did in Rainbow Rocks. I did kinda like how she had the part in contrast with Twilight when she talked with her. But without Pony Twilight there to show that contrast, there’s not too much yet that makes me really like her yet. She just isn’t interesting enough for me yet, especially compared to what I am interested in seeing in the future. (Again that would be Human Twilight coming to Canterlot High)
