askpiratedash asked: ((Tell us in this public forum what led to the creation of Genie Twi?))
(I saw soulsq3 ask this as well, don’t worry I saw your question as well. It’s just too similar to Pirate Dash’s)
I’ll start this off that Genies are one of my favorite Mythical beings. Just something about them that’s intrigued me always. That doesn’t mean it was like one of my hugest obsessions or anything. As for example while I did watch Aladdin as a kid I’m sure, I didn’t really rewatch it as much as say… The Lion King out of all Disney movies. I however occasionally looked for good Genie pics around the internet especially if it had anything to do with another media I liked.
So sometime while I was searching for Pony related Genie pictures on places like dA or Derpibooru (Or Ponibooru back in the day). There were some good Genified ponies already, like a Genie Pinkie (Which made up most of them at the time), Genie Trixie, Genie Rarity, even a Genie Rainbow Dash. But to my rather disappointment, there was not one Genie Twilight picture which kinda surprised me because I kinda consider Twilight is the Element of Magic. And Genies are known for what? Being immensely powerful magic beings. I would of thought there’d be something considering how much the fandom has covered already at that point.
So I thought one day that I’d fill what I considered a bit of a void. Though it wasn’t going to be a Tumblr blog at first. It was actually going to only be part of an interactive story where Twilight goes to Saddle Arabia. Twilight becoming a Genie was only one of the paths had I taken the effort to pursue it. And the Genie one even had two paths of it’s own, one where it goes close to exactly how this blog’s origin story went the other has Twilight is bottlenapped by Desert Dogs (Saddle Arabian Diamond Dogs basically) and forced to grant their greedy desires. One of the non-genie storylines being Twilight gets invited into the palace where the Prince of Saddle Arabia meets her and falls in love with her, but Twilight doesn’t return the favor and leads to tension where it’d lead to Twilight having to escape the guards of the Palace that are ordered by the Prince to keep Twilight in the Palace at all times.
As you can see, the project was very ambitious and I realized that as I finished the core of the Genie Twilight path that would be the overall inspiration for this blog’s Origin Story. So I scrapped the idea of an interactive story and went on to making it focus on only that particular path. Adding more details and such. But then I kinda starting having self-doubt on the quality because I’ve never been the best at writing in terms of punctuation and grammar. I definitely think if I had sent it in then, it probably would of not gone over well as this Tumblr blog has. In School I almost always got C’s in English. I just never was too good at being consistent on grammar, especially on long essays or in this case fanfics. But I did at least complete an entire first draft that I left sitting on my computer, until eventually I had the idea of making the concept a Tumblr blog.
I however did not want it to be text-only, as that doesn’t really get you alot of hits I’m sure. Luckily there was Urimas’ sprite sheets that he had for the public (And that was before the shut down of MLP Online). I got to making a nice design for Genie Twilight, and in October of 2012, I started up the blog. I have had years working with Pixel Art with editing sprites, while I wouldn’t consider myself a great one. I felt I could do a decent job enough. I must thank Urimas alot for those sprites though, his is really the best I’ve seen. I would have never started it if the only resource I had was the Desktop Ponies, no offense to that style at all but it just wasn’t nearly detailed enough and also doesn’t have the variety of poses Urimas sprite sheets have. The poses of Twilight up in the air work swimmingly for whenever I have Genie Twi in Tail form, it just was too perfect. Using those and the photoshop effects, I could make a decent enough basis for the blog. The first month of October being essentially practice and laying out some of the most important stuff until finally making a more clear improvement as I got to the revamped Origin Story. Some of those early answers are kinda hard to read though, someday I’ll make an FAQ that mentions some of those early but really important questions that were answered then. because sometimes I still get an ask that was answered months ago but because a combination of it being way far back and might be hard to read for some people. Might have to answer it more clearly in a document.
There might be something I’m missing but for now I think that’s what I have to say about that. I’m really happy with the response the blog has got. I never actually expected to get this far so quickly. I have to say everyone that followed me and/or asked a question played a good part on this. And I couldn’t be more thankful if I tried. It’s not even been a full year since I started the blog but it feels like I know some of the friends I’ve met thanks to it for years. And I can’t thank you all enough ^^
riokenng3 asked: How did you discover about ponies?
I can only answer that with one word: Boredom
You see in February 2011. I was at home with nothing to do and trying to find something on the internet to watch. I don’t exactly remember how, but I heard about this new My Little Pony show. I don’t even remember how I was compelled into seeing it considering all I saw of MLP prior to it was the commercials for the older generations. But I went ahead and watched Friendship is Magic, Part 1 on Youtube. Turns out watching things for the heck of it led to all this, because I was actually really impressed by the first episode and went on to finish the 2nd. It’s hard to explain without going into paragraphs and paragraphs on it, but I felt hooked by the characters shown (Especially Twilight) and then by early March I had caught up to the first 17 episodes before I would watch my first episode live on the TV. Which was Show Stoppers.
I’m really happy I watched it, because I’ve come to love this show so much. And have many friends online because of it now. And not just on Tumblr.

A grey t-shirt and some jeans ^^’
I haven’t seen Twixie Genie’s mod/Navitas in over a week. I hope he’s alright… He didn’t leave any warning he’d be gone this long last we talked. :(
EDIT: Welp biggest coincidence there. Navitas contacts me pretty much shortly after I made this. Without seeing this first. Well anyway good thing to know he’s ok. He just said he was working on a project and he couldn’t get online too much during it. Just overall glad he’s ok though. ^^

angelite-twilight-deactivated20 asked: Hello. I'm nervous about asking this, but I'm about to start my own version of an 'Ask Twilight' blog about a psychic-medium Twilight (in simplest terms, anyway). I'm using Urimas sprites as illustrations b/c I love how detailed they are. (Plus they're cute. :P) I'm having trouble with enlarging the sprites without losing their quality, though. Your enlarged versions of Genie Twilight look really crisp and clear, so I'm wondering if you could walk me through your clean-up process? Thank you. :)
Oh hello there, it’s nice for you to contact me about it. And your concept sounds interesting and I’ll be sure to see how it goes ^^
Anyway, my enlarging actually isn’t any huge clean up process. I actually just zoom up sprites and then use the Print Screen tool to have them enlarged without the blurriness of making them bigger through the transform tool. The normal is 200%, while others that have Twilight closer up like my last Twibrary update is done was zoomed in at 500%
However I recommend that you first make the poses you want to make at normal size and then use zoom and Print Screen because otherwise a twice as large sprite might be a little harder to edit then it should be.
Though if you have any special effects (Like the horn glow), that’s best to save for the enlarged sprites.
I hope that’s helpful enough, if not… feel free to ask me more questions.
(P.S. I don’t know what program you use or if my method works better for my own then others. But I use Photoshop to make mine. Not 100% sure if it works as good if you use say… GIMP, Paint, or SAI)
Berry Moon.
to be honest, sounds like a porno name to me =P
Rainbow Belle for me for my real name
Prairie Pie for this online alias.
Berry Luck, I guess.

dhk1989 asked: Have you uploaded your pony sprite sheets anywhere? If not, do you plan to in the future?
If you mean for Genie Twilight. They’re right here.
If you mean the sprites in general, they weren’t created by me. They were made by Urimas. If you’re looking for the sprites that he released to the public after MLP Online was shut down. Go here.
edeon asked: What do you think about Meghan McCarthy stating that alicorn twi wont outlive her friends?
I did know about that. I know it contradicts some things I had put into the MMC Arc. But I just want to say, that the show will probably never cover anything relating to a Ponies death. Not even a official word on how long normal Ponies live in Equestria. I kinda feel like Meghan’s comment was answered just to attempt to ease worries that Twilight is not suddenly immortal.
I’ll say this. If there’s some changes I can place that contradict the canon but I’m still able to mostly follow canon I will. Because while I do try to have Genie Twilight follow canon loosely. Just the fact that of course Canon Twilight is not a Genie already makes it different. If there’s something that comes up in Canon that I don’t think I want to put in Genie Twilight I won’t. Though it’s not like they’re going to kill off Twilight or any major character for that matter.
On outside of the blog, I actually believed from the get go that even if Twilight as an Alicorn is not immortal that she’d inherently live longer then her friends. Because I feel like part of the reason she’s a princess is so she could teach the values she’s gained over time with being around her friends to others. Helping maintain those throughout Equestria. So in some ways I disagree with the comment Meghan made, though at the same time I’m not going to go all angry like “THAT DESTROYS MY HEADCANON ARGHLABRAGLEASDFGHJKL;” because I think it was just a sort of settling fears tweet. Unless for some reason we see Twilight die in the series it’s not entirely important anyway however. On this issue however, I’ll maintain that I think Twilight will outlive her friends as an Alicorn despite what Meghan says because I don’t see the show having us see the Main 6 grow old and die. That’d just be too sad. I’ll accept some “Word of God” the staff says about stuff within the show’s timeline. But trying to say what the far, far, future holds for the characters I think is just as speculative as a fan thinking of it.
Do I inherently believe that all Princesses in FiM are immortal in every way? I’m not too sure. Celestia and Luna definitely have lived a long time though, and I think although there’s theories that Cadence is a lesser Alicorn that isn’t immortal and Twilight’s in the same status. I still think a Lesser Alicorn lives longer then a normal Pony. I’ve also fault of the possibility that Alicorns are immortal from only an aging death, meaning if something was physically or magically powerful enough. Then even Celestia and Luna are vulnerable, they’re just immune to the “sands of time” you could say. Another theory I’ve heard is that the Alicorns are tied to their talents in many ways, like Celestia and Luna are tied to the Sun and Moon. If the Sun and the Moon were to be destroyed, Celestia and Luna could die or suddenly become mortal again. Though that’d be odd because if you want to consider what Cadence and Twilight are respectively (Princesses of Love and Magic/Friendship) does this mean that they’d get weaker if Equestria started losing the feelings of Love and Friendship?
Well anyway, just rambling on by now on questions that will probably never get a clear answer. I’ll just end off that I’m sure by the time the show ends. All the Main 6 will be alive and well. Meaning any word of god that came before that covered stuff that happens after which is just as much speculation as fan speculation is. When a show ends, you can interpret yourself how things go afterward for yourself. You could choose to directly follow what the staff says what generally happens after the show ends, or you can follow your own. Keep it in your head, or even write a fanfic about your interpretation of the Aftermath of the show. The show’s obviously not going to mention things like Life span of a normal pony or a Princess for that matter, they’re not going to show the grave of a well-known character or imply any major character died, and so on and so forth. Word of God can be useful for alot of things, but not something in which it’s definitely not going to be covered in the show.
