Might do liveblog reactions to the major stuff happening~
If not though, I’ll definitely try to have a quick thoughts on the direct before I have to go.
novasparksart asked: aw yeah thanks for reminding me that the nintendo direct is tomorrow! I'm super psyched for it!! what do you think will be revealed in it for smash bros?
I see a few possibilities. Here’s a list of who I think might be likely newcomers and veterans:
Newcomers
Miis - Unlike most people in the Smash community it seems. I don’t hate the very idea of Miis being playable. They have their place in Nintendo now. And have a good enough resume to be playable. Ever since Wii Fit Trainer was announced + the THREE Mii related stages we have. I think they’re shoe-ins. A Smash Bros. related direct would be the perfect place to explain how they’ll work.
Ridley - Maybe it’s just because Monday’s screenshot happened to have a Metroid. But there’s also this feeling a really hyping reveal will come out of this. And Ridley’s pretty much the most requested Nintendo newcomer.
Palutena - There’s a supposed leak out there that hasn’t exactly been 100% debunked yet where it looks like Palutena is playable. And it might be time we see if it’s true or not that she’ll be a Newcomer.
Honorable Mentions: Pac-Man (I think if Pac-Man’s playable he’ll be an E3 reveal. But maybe Namco had other plans), Shulk (For Xenoblade), and a Fire Emblem newcomer
Veterans
Yoshi - Alot of people thought he’d show up when Yoshi’s New Island was released in the US. But maybe the reason we had no character reveals in March was so we could have multiple during the April direct to hype us in one sitting. Yoshi’s a guaranteed returnee either way though. He’s not one to worry about if he doesn’t show up once again.
Snake - Snake has been a bit iffy on his chances. And if he’s in the game, he’s likely going to have a big day for himself just like Sonic did last October. So this may be the day to put the doubts about Snake returning to rest. Because unfortunately time’s running out for the poor guy. If we don’t know about him being in the game before Smash 4 releases. That’s probably not a good sign.
Wario - After Yoshi wasn’t revealed, many people pointed out that WarioWare had an anniversery in March. So he might be March’s character reveal. Needless to say, that didn’t happen either. But it might be the fat man’s return come tomorrow. Although Wario is not one of the Original 12 nor was he in Melee though, Wario is a shoe-in to return just like Yoshi. You can’t have Ashley from WarioWare as an Assist Trophy if Wario isn’t playable.
Any Popular Veteran from Melee and/or Smash 64 that hasn’t been revealed yet (This includes Ness, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo) - It’d be pretty cool for a character like Captain Falcon to show up since he’s beloved because of the Smash Bros. series. Mewtwo might also be a good one since he missed out on Brawl. And is probably the most wanted Veteran.
Of course knowing Sakurai I could be completely wrong and he surprises me by not showing any of what I think might come. But that’s the fun of it all. ^^
vohskyfire asked: I just hope the Pokémon Trainer returns, or rather Charizard does, with the Mega Evolution as Final Smash and that Yoshi comes back. If that useless Jigglypuff can come back, then so can Yoshi. XD
Yoshi you have nothing to worry about. And I’m sure Pokemon Trainer will come back in some form.
BUT OH NO, YOU DID NOT JUST DISS JIGGZ IN MY HOUSE

THIS BADASS MOTHERFUCKER HAS EATEN GIGA BOWSER FOR BREAKFAST
GTFO
(I’m just kidding xD But yeah, I can’t hate Jigglypuff. Or anyone of the Original 12 for that matter. It’d feel like something was missing if they left any of them out)
thegothmod asked: Twalot shoulnd be pwincess cus raisins :v
I don’t know, Celestia seems to be ok with Raisins and she’s a Princess hehe xD

vohskyfire asked: Duuude I can't wait for Smash Bros either. It's gonna be so awesome. X3 Which version are you planning on getting? I have both consoles for it so I might end up getting one over the other. XD
I plan on getting both unless the connectivity between the two versions isn’t really that interesting after all. Or something really goes wrong with the 3DS version.
But I’m a huge, huge, huge Smash Bros. fan. So I might get the 3DS version even if it’s turns out only half as good as the Wii U version.
Fighting Nintendo All-Stars as Sonic the Hedgehog both at home and on the road is a plus enough though~
vohskyfire asked: Man my friend, you've been getting into a lot of arguments about episodes lately haven't you? xD Keep up the awesome work though. ^_^
Well mainly from its-homerj. (And a few with Gothmod about Twilight being an Alicorn Princess). But I actually don’t mind it too much, as long as the discussion doesn’t start getting to insulting eachother. I like having discussions regarding things I like. I welcome any questions or discussion on Friendship is Magic related stuff or other stuff I do like (Ex: Video game series like Super Smash Bros, Mario, Sonic, etc. Or other cartoons such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Courage the Cowardly Dog, etc.)
Speaking of Smash Bros. I can’t wait until tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct B)
ask-keystar asked: hiya! love your genie twilight blog. very interesting idea, and I enjoy reading your thoughts on different eps. can't always agree with you but still enjoy reading what you think :D keep up the good work! Oh also before I forget the ending to your aprils fools story was different than what I came up with :) I had the idea they would be fused into one pony after entering together. anyway take care and stay safe!
Thank you very much for the compliments on both my blog and my thoughts on each of the episodes. ^^
And that ending to the April Fools thing would be funny too. But I had it previously known that two genies could enter a bottle without them fusing. (Twilight has previously stated that back when Genies were common in the old days there were masters and genies that fell in love to the point the Master would make full commitment to the point that they’re both Genies and Twilight’s used the Genie Simulation on the CMC and used one bottle for all 3 of them). So while it’d be a funny joke to add on an already ridiculous thing going on, I just wanted the main joke to be about suddenly the blog seems like it’s going to be a shipping blog now.
However, this is tempting me to make a bonus pic sometime that would happen if I did have them fuse as a result of the bottling…
its-homerj-deactivated20140626 asked: And in the case with The Mysterious Mr. Enter, I just see him as another one of those people who do video analyses who don't even try to be remotely entertaining, funny, or insightful (much like with Tommy Oliver and Digibrony). Also in case your wondering, yes I have seen a few of his videos. That's why I'd rather watch video analyses from Joshua Burner (aka Fiery Joker) and Silver Quill
Yeah Mr. Enter isn’t all too much about Comedy. But I like his style of reviewing episodes that he’s done since his Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 review where the episode has exclamation points he adds if there was something he liked. Or takes away if he feels there was a flaw in the episode.
I also tend to agree with him more often then I don’t.
Ex: He liked all of my favorite episodes of the series. Which are the following: Cutie Mark Chronicles, Lesson Zero, Hurricane Fluttershy, Canterlot Wedding, Magic Duel, Magical Mystery Cure, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and Pinkie Pride. He’s also not a fan of Look Before You Sleep and Rainbow Falls, episodes I don’t really like that much.
While I have disagreed with him a few times. I usually admit he has a fair reason if he dislikes an episode that I do like.
Oh I also don’t just watch him for his Friendship is Magic reviews. As I like his Admirable Animation (Where he’s praised episodes from other TV shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog and Avatar: The Last Airbender which are shows I also happen to love) and Animated Atrocities (Where’s he teared apart terrible episodes of other shows like modern Spongebob or G3 My Little Pony for example.)
its-homerj-deactivated20140626 asked: Though the thing is that, I saw also more as how Amy Keating Rogers was trying way too hard to appeal to kids with the rap, just like Disney had done with a few of their shows, and tie-in music videos in the 90s (like with Goof Troop) with attempting to be hip and attempting to get adults to catch up on the times, and understanding what kids did back then, but just came off as cringe-worthy, at least for me.
The difference is they did it for 2014. While many Disney shows and other animation companies used Rap because it was hip in the late 90s/Early 2000s (The Titanic movie with the Rapping dog came out in 2000. So right smack dab in the middle there). So about 1 ½ decades for the animation companies to finally get their mind straight that Rap isn’t hip anymore and only use it sparingly so it doesn’t feel like lame attempts to get with the times.
AKR did it as a funny little reference rather then doing it just because it’s “hip” or “cool”. If they were going for what’s “cool” but often criticized for being overdone in recent times, they’d go with something like Dubstep. Kids now aren’t as familiar with rap as those who grew up to the 90s are. Just like how kids who grew up in the 80s don’t remember too much about Disco that the kids of the 70s remember much more.
Unless it became a trend in cartoons again somehow. Using Rap in cartoons is about the same as having a character dance to disco for laughs now: It’s partly funny in the first place because it’s old school now.
its-homerj-deactivated20140626 asked: Again I'm sorry for saying this, but I disagree with that as well. Because Amy Keating Rogers could have at least tried to come up with a memorable song for Pinkie in the episode. Like what she did for the Smile Song, or any of the songs in Pinkie Pride. So for me it is actually far worse than Amy Keating Rogers' attempt to make her funny in Filli Vanilli, instead of doing a horrible rap parody that's as entertaining as the rapping dog from the animated Titanic movie.
Making a song like the Smile Song and/or any of the songs in Pinkie Pride was not the point though. This wasn’t a Pinkie Pie centered episode. Those songs came in episodes where Pinkie was the star. And Pinkie wasn’t the star of the episode. The only episode I can remember that had a decent length Pinkie song where she wasn’t exactly the star of the episode was Over a Barrel, and that was done to set-up the punchline of the Buffalo Chief and the Sheriff saying “That was the worst performance we’ve ever seen”. Like Over a Barrel, the Pinkie Rap was done for a quick joke. Pinkie clearly did the rap for fun, and was an attempt at helping Rainbow Dash.
It didn’t work, but at least Pinkie tried.
And here’s the difference between Pinkie Rapping and the Rapping Dog in the Titanic movie.
In the Titanic movie: The movie is based on a real event… though somehow it has talking Mice and everything trying to be the new American Tail or something. And even has a “Happy Ending” despite the fact that well… Titanic was pretty much a disaster where many people died. The reason the Rapping Dog (While can be funny if you’re a “So Bad, it’s Good” kind of person) did not work is because
1. The setting takes place in a time that was just about 80 years before Rap became a big thing. So it basically just included the Rap to be “cool” since the movie itself came just a year after the 90s were over
2. It kinda… just comes out of nowhere. As the dog just starts rapping after the Mice thanked him. Most musicals usually have at least some reason to their songs. The song wasn’t even about saying “You’re welcome!” or something it was just the dog saying “IT’S PARTY TIME!”
and 3. The movie in general was a terrible attempt to cash-grab on many succesful films like the Titanic live-action film, Disney films, and American Tail. And other then those who might like it for the “So Bad, It’s Good” kind of thing. The song is a waste of time that has absolutely nothing to do with the movie other then “Hey how about we put a rapping dog in a movie based on an actual tragic event… The kids will love it!”
Pinkie’s Rap in Testing, Testing, 1, 2 ,3: I’ll do the same 3 points here.
1. Equestria is definitely more modern then the setting of the Titanic movie. Granted you don’t see all the technology we have in Equestria. Though that’s mostly because there’s not really a need for it because they already have Magic that exists in Equestria. Though that hasn’t stopped the occasional vehicle or other kind of modern technology (Like the pedal copter in the latest episode, or an arcade machine in Hearts and Hooves Day)
2. Pinkie’s known to sing from time-to-time. In Season 1, she often did it for no particular reason at all. There however was a reason this time, as I said. It was an attempt to help Rainbow Dash. And again like I said, it didn’t work. But she sure as hell tried. But regardless because it’s already a known trait that Pinkie likes to sing, the Rapping doesn’t come of nowhere like the Rapping Dog thing did.
and 3. It’s not that big of a deal because even if you don’t like it, it’s only 40 seconds out of an otherwise enjoyable episode. Personal taste of the music doesn’t matter in episodes of shows that use Music. What DOES matter, is if there’s a purpose to them. And there was a purpose to Pinkie’s rapping.
I personally enjoyed Pinkie’s rap. It wasn’t aiming to be as good as grander songs in AKR’s other Pinkie episodes. Complaining about a 40 second rap just sounds like “Stop having fun, DHX!”. I won’t be hailing Pinkie’s rap as one of the best songs of the show anytime soon of course. But that doesn’t mean I can’t find it somewhat enjoyable, as I just think it’s funny in itself that I’m watching Pinkie Pie rap. And it’s not my favorite part of the episode. But really thinking about the scene, it serves way more purpose then the Rapping Dog’s song. And seeing Pinkie actually trying to help is already leagues better then whatever she was doing for Fluttershy in Filli Vanilli.
P.S. If you keep pulling the “See this Josh guy from FOB Equestria” card. I kinda have my own reviewer I tend to agree with most of the time (Not all the time since I disagreed with his review of Power Ponies and Somepony to Watch Over Me) in the Mysterious Mr. Enter. He disliked Pinkie’s portrayal in Filli Vanilli as well, and based on his first impressions he posted on his dA he liked Pinkie’s rap too. Linking to a reviewer that agreed with you isn’t going to make me like anything I do less. I have my own opinions/thoughts/etc. The brony analysts out there only are there to give a perspective on why someone might like or dislike a certain episode or a certain part of an episode. As no matter the episode, there’s going to be at least one person who liked it, and one who didn’t. What makes a good or bad episode is based on your own personal perspective. People who analyze the episodes are just explaining in their own way why they like or dislike an episode or a scene. Their video reviews aren’t much different then us posting our thoughts on an episode via a forum or a personal blog. Doing it through videos is just a fancier way of doing it since it usually requires more editing, and it usually takes longer then just to type up your thoughts.
