seminoles8-deactivated20161124 asked: Honestly, I just feel that Appleloosa's Most Wanted is nothing more than pointless filler, IMO.
I could see what you mean given it is a CMC related episode and most (Other then the Dreamwalker Luna trilogy and Flight to the Finish) regardless of enjoyability can feel pointless overall. Probably one of the worst offenders of them was Cutie Pox back in Season 2 where the episode wasn’t bad per se but it didn’t really feel like anything mattered afterward.
Which I kinda feel Appleloosa’s Most Wanted does at least slightly better given the CMC are taking a more mature approach by helping someone who misinterpreted their Cutie Mark. I was afraid at first this episode was really about an actual criminal that the CMC think catching will recieve their Cutie Mark which would be one of the dumbest ideas the CMC have ever had. Even Sweetie lampshades it when at first that’s the intention “Worst. Idea. Ever.”
But thankfully instead we just get cute/sweet moments between the misunderstood in more ways then one Trouble Shoes and the CMC. It’s not the most exciting plot but it’s servicable. We should also remember we learned that the name of this season is Cutie Mark Magic. Already 4 of the six (3 of the 5 if you prefer to say two-parters as one episode) had something related to Cutie Marks and I assume it won’t be too farfetched that there’d be more coming up. It is also highly speculated we’ll see the CMC finally recieve their Cutie Marks after all this time by the end of this season. If that’s true then we’ll likely be done with these type of episodes and the CMC can finally just have episodes on their own for the rest of the show without having to rely on getting their Cutie Marks being the focus which usually turn out to be the better CMC episodes.
So even if you’re not a big fan of these episodes, it’s very possible those are coming to an end. While Appleloosa’s Most Wanted wasn’t too special it also was pretty harmless. So personally I’m not gonna complain. With every less interesting episode there’s going to be one airing soon that will be much more fun. Especially what is turning out to be the next one considering Discord’s involved.
kar-dragon asked: hello again, i'm here to give another advice, though it's for this blog. i know you probably expect people to get here via your main blog's link, but sometimes someone is looking for a way to that blog in this one, so i think i link here would be a really good idea.
Done. Thanks for the suggestion ^^
i-dream-of-twilight-sparkle asked: Say I don't remember if you've already said but have you voted for anyone in particular on the Smash ballot? I know you're probably already pretty happy with Lucas but I'm just wondering if you plaved a vote for any character(/s) ^^
Oh sure!I dunno if I said it here but I put in 2 votes for the Smash Ballot. Dunno if I’ll do anymore, but we’ll see ^^
My first vote was for Tails, with a side note that Knuckles would work too. I thought they had good chances since if Sonic got in surely it wouldn’t hurt to get another character from Sega, and I’ve always thought that since Sonic has already been in a Smash game he totally deserves a 2nd character, and man, having Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in Smash feels so perfect for me, the original trio.
I thought that would be all. The only other characters I wanted were either from a new franchise or characters that simply didn’t have a good chance. (Isaac from Golden Sun, Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven, and another Mario character being them). I don’t really see a new IP character happening, simply because if they did they’d probably have to also add a stage for them and maybe some songs and such, and so far we don’t really see a sign to that happening. They’d also need their own victory animation, and to my knowledge part of why Mewtwo and Lucas happened is because they were already in Smash so they didn’t have to make any new music or such for them, and I don’t see future DLC packs including stages and music since we don’t really have that coming save for the Miiverse stage.
Still, even if I didn’t want a new IP character, I couldn’t help it one day, and while in a strong Mario fanboy mood, I had to cast another ballot for my Mario wants. I cast a vote for Geno from Super Mario RPG, simply saying that the Mario RPG series totally needs a rep since the series itself is famous and known for having memorable Mario characters, and Geno would be perfect. I also added Paper Mario from the Paper Mario series and Fawful from the Mario & Luigi series as substitutes if things don’t work out with Square, but basically, I want a character from the Mario RPGs :p
Aaaand those were my votes! ^^
Curious too as I don’t know, who did you vote for? And anyone else who did, as I’m curious, send a message letting me know!
Oh that surprises me a bit, I voted for Tails too. I’d just love having another classic Duo in there. Mario & Luigi Vs. Sonic & Tails would be another dream come true like how Sonic came in for Brawl.
Also considering there is that Roy and Ryu leak (Soundfiles for a Fire Emblem Character and a Street Fighter victory theme with both Roy and Ryu were found in a data mining after the new update that adds Mewtwo). The biggest obstacle in Tails’ way is gone: Thanks to DLC, it’s possible that a 3rd Party company can get another rep. As Ryu is from Capcom who obviously already has Mega Man in there.
And I see no better character to add from Sega then another Sonic character considering it’s a veteran franchise now in the series. And Tails is most likely being the Franchise’s own Luigi. Knuckles would be the 2nd choice but he’s not quite as iconic as Tails is, Shadow’s out of the Running due to him being an Assist Trophy as I doubt they promote them within the same game that they’re in as ATs, the only real other choice I’d think would be Eggman but they’d probably have to work on something like an Enhanced Bowser Jr. (Just replace the Koopa Clown Car with the Egg Beetle) to make him work. I think Tails would be much easier to work with (To start with he could even be a Semi-Clone. Tails would have Spin Dash as well. As with all characters that have at least one similar move it’s just work slightly differently.). As great as it would be to have Mike Pollock record some lines for Smash Bros. Eggman would take harder work that I don’t know if the developers would be willing to do. Eggman would really be the only character I would accept as a 2nd Sonic rep over Tails. But like I said, Tails would be much easier on the developers.
I didn’t vote for anyone else really, all I want is Tails. I’ll just be happy for anyone else who gets their character in Smash through the Ballot. ^^
Okay first before I get into my re-thoughts I want to apologize for my last one on this episode. I made that too much on a reaction to ony watching it once. I’ve almost always stuck with a clear “watch it twice before truly judging”. Because I actually didn’t even watch Bloom and Gloom, the episode in this post, nor yesterday’s episode a 2nd time until today and they were all better watches the 2nd time around. Now what I have to say in this re-do is still slightly negative in that it’s still my least favorite of the season thus-far but I know I was a little unfair last time because I didn’t quite understand everything. So without further adieu, let me RE think about the episode a little.
rose-psyche asked: I'd just like to congratulate you for completing quite an intense story, and for your work on the Spike sprite. I'm always a little wary of change, but you did a really nice job of making him look distinct. ^_^
Thank you so much ^^
return-of-the-waywardfoals-deac asked: I've read the whole thing, and I have to say, it's really good, though I do have some complaints, their mostly nitpicks. It's also interesting how you're giving Spike a change like his eye being damage.
Yeah, nothing is without it’s flaws and some people will probably find plot holes in the story somewhere. (If that’s what you were referring to, if it’s just stuff like any grammar or even spelling. I must admit that I was never the best with that. My average in English classes were C’s because I commonly made mistakes on stuff like essays)
I just ask for enjoyment of the story. Even some of my favorite FiM Episodes have some glaring Plotholes. So I just hope that for most people any complaints they may have don’t let them entirely ruin the enjoyment.
I do welcome anybody who could tell me if there was something I overlooked in the story. As long as they’re not pointing out everything wrong with malicious intent.
I don’t really consider myself as one of the best writers. And some constructive criticism is probably good. Even if I doubt I’ll ever do another large story like Return to Saddle Arabia. It could be useful for anything even if it’s in smaller amounts with writing in the future. I don’t have a long history of making fanfics and this is the closest to one I’ve ever done (Though I suppose the entire blog counts as a fanfic even if it’s a little more then that. A fan comic when the sprite images are used)
rythyr asked: Why is there a scar? Zathir stabbed him, didn't he? It wasn't a slash..?
Well let’s just say this is what happened: The thing at the top where the scar looks bigger can be considered where the initial stab came through and then Zathir went a little further by curving with the tip of the blade down the rest of the eye quickly before finally dropping Spike and running away.
The stab wound is still there, I guess I just didn’t mention the rest exactly. FiM characters have some pretty large eyes, so I’ll just say Zathir wanted to make sure he got the entire eye.
Probably should of done this a while ago. But on the sidebar of the Main site for I Dream of Twilight Sparkle I have added some chrono links to most if not all the big project stuff throughout the blog’s history including the episode responses for Season 3 and 4, important stuff such as the 1-Year Anniversary of the Blog (Which is where the Mother-and-Son stuff between Twilight and Spike began in the first place), as well as stuff that were just fun shenanigans such as “I Dream of TwiDash” (For April Fools last year) or the Genie Simulation remake.
This should be convenient for those who are newcomers ever since Return of Saddle Arabia started. Included is also the chrono link to Return of Saddle Arabia in case you want to read the whole story again. ^^
endarkculi asked: Well, I certainly enjoyed your story, even if I was feeling a bit like Rainbow Dash in the epilogue and wondering how dangerous a place like Saddle Arabia could get. It was entertaining, with a fitting conclusion, and I think you did a fine job. And also, I'm impressed with your work on the new Spike sprite! So, as for a post-story question, do you have any plans to write another epic story like "Return to Saddle Arabia" later on in the blog's run?
I probably won’t have another one quite as big as Return to Saddle Arabia. But I certainly do have plans in the work for at least another story that might be worth something. If you read closely, some things in Return of Saddle Arabia actually kind of foreshadow what I have in mind.
That won’t be until sometime after Season 5 of FiM finishes though (And don’t expect it to be immediately after Season 5 xP). So it will be a long while.
