Things I liked from Each Equestria Girls Film

Maybe to give a good idea of what I mean of what I personally liked from each of the films that effects what I liked. I thought I’d put a list of things I can think of on the top of my head that I enjoyed in each film. I’ll even say list some things on the first film. Even if that’s obviously going to be the shortest of the list.

EQG1

*The Opening Scenes that are still in Equestria

*Spike’s Characterization

*The Cafeteria Song (Helping Twilight Sparkle Win the Crown)

…and that’s about it

EQG2

*The Sirens themselves

*Every Song that the Sirens were involved in:

- Battle of the Bands

- Under Our Spell

- Their part of Welcome to the Show

*Trixie’s Song, Tricks Up My Sleeve

*While maybe I technially already mentioned this since Welcome to the Show technically already is this, the final battle was pretty cool

*And last but not least Human Twilight’s debut in the Post-Credits Scene!

EQG3

*Pretty much anything and everything involved with Human World Twilight (Which is a pretty big part of the movie ^^)

*Most of the Songs I find on par with some of the Main series music (And better then most EQG1 Songs that aren’t the Cafeteria one). Even if none reach as far like the Siren’s songs. But the closest to that level was Unleash the Magic

*The Sports/Competition Theme

*Dog Spike is nearly as, if not just as good as Spike was in EQG1

*Least Flash Sentry involvement of the 3 films (And not even one real cringeworthy scene related to him. Both the first and Rainbow Rocks had at least one of those)

*The Ponying up from the HuMane 5 happening as a result of showing their respective element rather then just playing an instrument.

*And The Ending setting so many things up that I’ll be invested in whatever else comes in the future of the EQG series. (Ex: The Stinger with Human Twi and Pony Twi meeting)

For me, even though I thought Friendship Games was great as well, I still actually find Rainbow Rocks to be my favorite of the EQG series.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong. Rainbow Rocks being the best of the 3 seems to be the consensus from what I’ve seen. And Rainbow Rocks was pretty good all things considered.

But I just personally enjoyed Friendship Games for personal reasons that Rainbow Rocks doesn’t have.

I’m perfectly fine with anybody who says they still preferred Rainbow Rocks. Just as long as they respect that I have my own reasons for enjoying Friendship Games the most. ^^

EQG3: FRIENDSHIP GAMES THOUGHTS

((tl;dr Warning. This may be quite long to read since I talk about every notable scene that I wanted to talk about regarding this movie. And of course if you haven’t seen the movie do not read this, as the spoilers are major. But if you have seen the movie, and don’t mind some gushing about Friendship Games then please read all you can ^^))

QUICK POST-THOUGHTS (No Spoilers) ON FRIENDSHIP GAMES

Don’t worry no spoilers here and this will be real short.

But I really did like Friendship Games. It’s automatically my favorite of the three. And one EQG film I can say I throughly enjoyed pretty much completely. Let me give you a overview of what I’d give each of the 3 films in an out of 10 score.

For Equestria Girls 1 it has always been pretty much a 5 out of 10 where it just wasn’t impressive in the slightest. Though I wouldn’t say it’s the worst thing ever either.

Rainbow Rocks was a large improvement at about 7 out of 10 for me. With the best soundtrack out of the three to boot.

Friendship Games for me may just be a solid 8 or 9 out of 10. I enjoyed what I was excited for, and there were many small things that also helped out with my liking. I’ll have a full detailed thoughts up by either Monday or Tuesday to fully explain why I actually really liked this one. As someone who’s kinda been a critic of Equestria Girls stuff in the past, I can safely say Friendship Games got alot right. You can kinda say it’s actually won me over a little. But I don’t want to go on for too much here, just wait for when I manage to get a rewatch and then I’ll give my full detailed review of why I liked this one so much even as someone who wasn’t fond of Equestria Girls at first.

RARITY INVESTIGATES THOUGHTS

CANTERLOT BOUTIQUE THOUGHTS

Whenever a Rarity episode comes up, the smartest thing to do is usually come at the episode from an Artist perspective. Because for the most part, Rarity episodes often can be most relatable to those seeking an artist career. This episode is no exception. As this episode covers the dilemma of milking the heck out of one art piece that becomes a hit, or trying to get a variety out there even if altogether it may not be as initially successful as the “signature” piece.

Any good artist should strive for the variety, but sometimes you can get caught up in the success of just one of your pieces that you can’t help but keep doing the same pic over and over and/or pics similar to it because you know it’s successful. Especially when you really need the money. But do it too long and you end up having that picture as your only identity as an artist and you end up being a one trick pony (No pun intended given the show we’re talking about here…).

Rarity and Sassy represent the two sides of this dilemma as the episode starts. And the flaws of milking the signature piece is probably why Sassy had those failed boutiques that she implied she had before. It was also good that Sassy wasn’t an antagonist that planned on taking over Rarity’s new boutique because at first it seems like it was going that direction when Sassy steps in front of Rarity right as she’s introducing the boutique to their first customers.

Another fear I had was when I saw the synopsis that it was going to be a repeat of Sweet and Elite because the episode vaguely said that Rarity was getting a boutique in Canterlot but at a price she may not be willing to take. Which made me afraid it was going to be like that she would have to move to Canterlot and as a result less time to spend with her friends. Of which of course would end with her giving up the Canterlot Boutique and going back to Ponyville. But thankfully it avoids that and Rarity even gets to keep her expansion going by having Sassy who has learned her lesson heading up the boutique while the Ponyville one remains the home base. It leaves something that can return for if there’s another episode where Rarity returns to Canterlot either later this season or even next Season. Whenever there’s potential for continuity to show up again in the show it makes me happy cause it’s definitely something the later seasons have done quite a bit in comparison to earlier ones and is part of why I think the show’s improved.

Anyway, this is actually only Part 1 of what will be pretty much a Rarity-thon for the next 2 weeks. We’ll also have Equestria Girls 3 on the same day as the 3rd of these. So it will be an interesting time for sure. Next episode I’m kinda interested because it involves Rarity being Rainbow Dash’s defense when she’s charged with a crime she didn’t commit. Now, this may be just me since I’ve been playing a lot of Ace Attorney recently but I have this hope that Rarity will yell OBJECTION just for the fun of it regardless if it’s an intentional reference or not. (It definitely makes me feel I picked the wrong episode for an Ace Attorney reference to show up in Episode Responses given I’ve already did one for Make Friends But Keep Discord. But hey looks like I may get to do another one, I don’t mind really ^^)
