One of my family’s pet dogs just passed away last night. He was a Beagle/Basset Hound mix named Hammer.
I kinda figured something was wrong when he was vomiting quite a few times yesterday many hours before he died. But still it came as a shock to the household when he suddenly got into a seizure and then died so suddenly.
It was quite tough to sleep last night.
So if you talk with me soon enough and you’re wondering why I’m not as cheery as I usually am. That’s why.
thealmightypinkone: Glad to see a positive outlook on this episode all I see is people complaining about pinkie in this episode
Wait really? We must hang at different corners of the critical spectrum because even those who didn’t like it so much didn’t complain about Pinkie whatsoever (They mainly thought Gilda’s turnaround and redemption was too quick/rushed or they felt more could have been done. Though admittedly regarding Gilda’s turnaround I felt it was more believable then both Discord’s in Keep Calm and Flutter On and even Sunset Shimmer in Equestria Girls) and those who liked it including myself cite Pinkie as one of the reasons we enjoyed the episode.
In general I’ve been hearing Pinkie in Season 5 as of so far quite praised more often then the apparent huge concern for her in Season 4. I didn’t think her character was dropping too rapidly myself even back then beyond a few hiccups (Balloon distraction in Three’s a Crowd and Filli Vanilli Pinkie as a whole). So yeah we just might be around different people that feel quite differently.
Though I certainly know the feeling even within this very fandom. I defended the idea of Alicorn Twilight that was enraging perhaps half of the entire fanbase before MMC even aired. So feeling like one of the few dissenters in a sea of hate and vitriol towards something you don’t think isn’t quite as bad as others are saying can be a rather sad feeling. While I’m not saying anything with Pinkie, even the whole Season 4 thing with her is quite as obviously fandom splitting as AliTwi was. I just think that’s a good example for how that must feel. So I can really sympathize here
seminoles8 said: You still didn’t read the fan mail sent to you, which elaborates why I feel that way about the episode
I did read it, it’s just easier to answer the actual shorter ask ones. And I didn’t find anything in the fan mail that I needed to really cover about it when just saying why I still felt at generally ok with the episode. It was all opinion based. What else am I supposed to say? Disagree on every one of your points?
The only one maybe I should contest is how you think any characters that return from Season 1 had no point in the episode when you do know this episode took place in Appleloosa right? It would of been weird if they went back there but did not have the Apple Family Member we were introduced to come back (Braeburn). Yeah he didn’t do a whole lot, but Appleloosa is where he lives.
Every one of your other complaints (Cliched Jokes, Plot we’ve seen so many times before, etc.) you could say the same about many episodes of the show. Even the generally popular episodes if you have enough of an unpopular opinion. So I feel that’s just something to just shrug off and treat it like an opinion you’re free to be entitled to and I don’t feel the need to comment on.
I could see what you mean given it is a CMC related episode and most (Other then the Dreamwalker Luna trilogy and Flight to the Finish) regardless of enjoyability can feel pointless overall. Probably one of the worst offenders of them was Cutie Pox back in Season 2 where the episode wasn’t bad per se but it didn’t really feel like anything mattered afterward.
Which I kinda feel Appleloosa’s Most Wanted does at least slightly better given the CMC are taking a more mature approach by helping someone who misinterpreted their Cutie Mark. I was afraid at first this episode was really about an actual criminal that the CMC think catching will recieve their Cutie Mark which would be one of the dumbest ideas the CMC have ever had. Even Sweetie lampshades it when at first that’s the intention “Worst. Idea. Ever.”
But thankfully instead we just get cute/sweet moments between the misunderstood in more ways then one Trouble Shoes and the CMC. It’s not the most exciting plot but it’s servicable. We should also remember we learned that the name of this season is Cutie Mark Magic. Already 4 of the six (3 of the 5 if you prefer to say two-parters as one episode) had something related to Cutie Marks and I assume it won’t be too farfetched that there’d be more coming up. It is also highly speculated we’ll see the CMC finally recieve their Cutie Marks after all this time by the end of this season. If that’s true then we’ll likely be done with these type of episodes and the CMC can finally just have episodes on their own for the rest of the show without having to rely on getting their Cutie Marks being the focus which usually turn out to be the better CMC episodes.
So even if you’re not a big fan of these episodes, it’s very possible those are coming to an end. While Appleloosa’s Most Wanted wasn’t too special it also was pretty harmless. So personally I’m not gonna complain. With every less interesting episode there’s going to be one airing soon that will be much more fun. Especially what is turning out to be the next one considering Discord’s involved.
Done. Thanks for the suggestion ^^
Oh sure!I dunno if I said it here but I put in 2 votes for the Smash Ballot. Dunno if I’ll do anymore, but we’ll see ^^
My first vote was for Tails, with a side note that Knuckles would work too. I thought they had good chances since if Sonic got in surely it wouldn’t hurt to get another character from Sega, and I’ve always thought that since Sonic has already been in a Smash game he totally deserves a 2nd character, and man, having Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in Smash feels so perfect for me, the original trio.
I thought that would be all. The only other characters I wanted were either from a new franchise or characters that simply didn’t have a good chance. (Isaac from Golden Sun, Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven, and another Mario character being them). I don’t really see a new IP character happening, simply because if they did they’d probably have to also add a stage for them and maybe some songs and such, and so far we don’t really see a sign to that happening. They’d also need their own victory animation, and to my knowledge part of why Mewtwo and Lucas happened is because they were already in Smash so they didn’t have to make any new music or such for them, and I don’t see future DLC packs including stages and music since we don’t really have that coming save for the Miiverse stage.
Still, even if I didn’t want a new IP character, I couldn’t help it one day, and while in a strong Mario fanboy mood, I had to cast another ballot for my Mario wants. I cast a vote for Geno from Super Mario RPG, simply saying that the Mario RPG series totally needs a rep since the series itself is famous and known for having memorable Mario characters, and Geno would be perfect. I also added Paper Mario from the Paper Mario series and Fawful from the Mario & Luigi series as substitutes if things don’t work out with Square, but basically, I want a character from the Mario RPGs :p
Aaaand those were my votes! ^^
Curious too as I don’t know, who did you vote for? And anyone else who did, as I’m curious, send a message letting me know!
Okay first before I get into my re-thoughts I want to apologize for my last one on this episode. I made that too much on a reaction to ony watching it once. I’ve almost always stuck with a clear “watch it twice before truly judging”. Because I actually didn’t even watch Bloom and Gloom, the episode in this post, nor yesterday’s episode a 2nd time until today and they were all better watches the 2nd time around. Now what I have to say in this re-do is still slightly negative in that it’s still my least favorite of the season thus-far but I know I was a little unfair last time because I didn’t quite understand everything. So without further adieu, let me RE think about the episode a little.
Thank you so much ^^
Yeah, nothing is without it’s flaws and some people will probably find plot holes in the story somewhere. (If that’s what you were referring to, if it’s just stuff like any grammar or even spelling. I must admit that I was never the best with that. My average in English classes were C’s because I commonly made mistakes on stuff like essays)
I just ask for enjoyment of the story. Even some of my favorite FiM Episodes have some glaring Plotholes. So I just hope that for most people any complaints they may have don’t let them entirely ruin the enjoyment.
I do welcome anybody who could tell me if there was something I overlooked in the story. As long as they’re not pointing out everything wrong with malicious intent.
I don’t really consider myself as one of the best writers. And some constructive criticism is probably good. Even if I doubt I’ll ever do another large story like Return to Saddle Arabia. It could be useful for anything even if it’s in smaller amounts with writing in the future. I don’t have a long history of making fanfics and this is the closest to one I’ve ever done (Though I suppose the entire blog counts as a fanfic even if it’s a little more then that. A fan comic when the sprite images are used)
Well let’s just say this is what happened: The thing at the top where the scar looks bigger can be considered where the initial stab came through and then Zathir went a little further by curving with the tip of the blade down the rest of the eye quickly before finally dropping Spike and running away.
The stab wound is still there, I guess I just didn’t mention the rest exactly. FiM characters have some pretty large eyes, so I’ll just say Zathir wanted to make sure he got the entire eye.
