Probably should of done this a while ago. But on the sidebar of the Main site for I Dream of Twilight Sparkle I have added some chrono links to most if not all the big project stuff throughout the blog’s history including the episode responses for Season 3 and 4, important stuff such as the 1-Year Anniversary of the Blog (Which is where the Mother-and-Son stuff between Twilight and Spike began in the first place), as well as stuff that were just fun shenanigans such as “I Dream of TwiDash” (For April Fools last year) or the Genie Simulation remake.
This should be convenient for those who are newcomers ever since Return of Saddle Arabia started. Included is also the chrono link to Return of Saddle Arabia in case you want to read the whole story again. ^^
Well, I certainly enjoyed your story, even if I was feeling a bit like Rainbow Dash in the epilogue and wondering how dangerous a place like Saddle Arabia could get. It was entertaining, with a fitting conclusion, and I think you did a fine job. And also, I'm impressed with your work on the new Spike sprite! So, as for a post-story question, do you have any plans to write another epic story like "Return to Saddle Arabia" later on in the blog's run?
I probably won’t have another one quite as big as Return to Saddle Arabia. But I certainly do have plans in the work for at least another story that might be worth something. If you read closely, some things in Return of Saddle Arabia actually kind of foreshadow what I have in mind.
That won’t be until sometime after Season 5 of FiM finishes though (And don’t expect it to be immediately after Season 5 xP). So it will be a long while.
Will the Dessert dogs try to get Zathir or just forget about him? Plus Awesome story by the way.
They’re long gone, as soon as Twilight were no longer under Zathir’s control. They were just too cowardly (Though who could really blame them) to try to help Zathir. They’d rather go back to the lives they had before which is pretty much similar to what the Diamond Dogs do then face the consequences of being on the losing side facing a Genie.
Just wanted to say I Loved the Story! Do you have any more like this in the works were its just text, or are you going to stick to picture story telling like before?
I’m going back to Sprite Comic Posts next with the Season 5 episode responses.
And considering the good reception I got, I may have more text stuff in the future (But maybe some room for me being able to add some images to it still). Because there are things in Return to Saddle Arabia I do plan on following up on. (If you read carefully enough, you may just notice what things I’m exactly talking about)
Though most of it is planned for after Season 5 finishes so it will be a while til’ then. (Unless of course something comes up in Season 5 that somehow gives me the opportunity to follow up on something even if it’s minor. Like if say one of the places the Ponies visit during the Season just happens to be Saddle Arabia)
Of course. I do want to thank a few friends for helping out. Including Sal/Ember Spark here and Felix who were my editors/proofreaders.
As well as of course for Navitas for not just providing the images he did make even if we had to mutually agree to end those mid-way. If it weren’t for him I would of never made the story public and he helped in quite a few other ways. (Such as character names, filling in parts of the story I never would of thought of otherwise, etc.)
So thanks to all of my friends who helped out dearly with the Story. ^^
Well everybody, Return to Saddle Arabia has finished. I hope a good majority if you enjoyed the story. The making of this story was a long time coming, some of the concepts borrowed from ideas I had from as far back as some months before I even started I Dream of Twilight Sparkle.
In celebration of the end of the story I will be holding a Post-RTSA TMI Thursday over on my Mod Blog if you have any questions or comments about the story. (Though don’t worry, I’ll still answer questions after today if there’s any I can’t get to today. So just think of the story as something you can freely message me about over on my mod blog. I’d be happy to talk about it)
Before I head onto that though. I want to show a little something: What Spike will look like from now on when the Sprited comics return.
There he is with the scar on his right eye with the scarred eye made purple due to the bat venom as well as the Dragon Tear that he used to ultimately save the day as well as made into a necklace by Twilight that Spike will be carrying around his neck from now on. As well as one sprite of Spike with his Eyes closed just to show the exact shape of Spike’s scar.
I Dream of Twilight Sparkle’s Spike will now have something to tell him apart from any other Spike’s. So if there’s anybody in the future who wishes to create fanart for this blog that includes Spike in it somewhere. Consider this your reference sheet. Because of course as of the end of this story and for as long as this blog still goes. This is Spike’s new appearance in-blog.
I may take at least a one week break before finally starting up the Episode responses again. I’ll do my best to catch up to where it’s at. Luckily not too many episodes of Season 5 have aired so I don’t think it will take that long to get the short responses going again. And I’m excited to be doing that again,
Thank you everybody for being so kind as well as everybody that was invested enough in the story to comment along with the story and/or talk with me about it ^^
Heh heh, I know that probably sounds really awkward out of context since you haven’t quite gotten to read it, Teej. But yeah. Spike was stabbed in the eye by the villain in this story. Don’t worry, the latest updates confirm he’s still alive. ^^’
The Desert Dogs are wise to run now, don't you think?
Well if you read the end of the most recent post…
“The Desert Dogs, seeing that Twilight’s no longer under the Vicegerent’s control. All run away to avoid Twilight’s possible wrath. At the very least, it will help them evade arrest”
I hope Zathir's defeat is equally disgraceful and excruciating, man does he grind my gears!
His defeat for good won’t come until next week. (To be exact, next Tuesday, April 28th)
But I do feel what comes up for him will be quite fitting. It may not be what most may want to happen, but I hope to convince through the story that Zathir gets his Just Desserts just as much as some people would of liked seen done with Zathir if not more.
In case you haven’t heard yet. Smash 4′s Update has been datamined and it included some interesting files such as Victory themes with characters named including Lucas who has already been confirmed coming in June. As well as Roy which has the Fire Emblem victory theme so we can assume that it’s the same Roy from Melee and there was also a Street Fighter victory theme as well as music track showing that Ryu from Street Fighter is also coming as DLC. Here are my thoughts thoughts on both characters.
Roy
Eh, I’m not as happy to see him return as some are. I just never thought he really deserved his spot initially. And even now I think the only reason he’s coming back is to appeal to those who liked him in Melee more so then his own game. Cause in the game he’s actually in, the Fire Emblem fanbase considers him one of the worst lords in the Franchise. So the demand for him basically strictly comes from those who liked him in Melee.
But whatever, I’ll just send him in the same corner as I do Dark Pit and Dr. Mario when I do get him. I’ll play through Classic and All-Star on both versions (On 0.0 intensity and Easy difficulty though) once, maybe also one runthrough in Smash Run. But then I’ll barely touch him afterward.
Ryu
Meanwhile, with Ryu. I’m a bit more positive on him. Though I am a little conflicted on why choosing him in particular first. As I assume it would be Sega getting the first company to have a 2nd rep. And even if it wasn’t them, I would assume Namco would of gotten it since they helped make the darn game. But hey I’m not complaining too much. This just means something may be coming for them in the future. Cause Ryu’s inclusion bolsters the chances of 3rd Parties in general and opens the door for more then ever before because now 3rd Party companies aren’t restricted to 1 rep thanks to DLC.
So guess what? My voted character (Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog) just got their chances bolstered a little due to the discovery of Ryu as upcoming DLC.
Oh and if there’s any Nintendo Purists that complain about 3rd Party DLC corrupting Smash Bros. Then the perfect joke comeback is: “So you’re saying Smash Bros. is RYU-ined?” Hehe~
Warning: If you haven’t seen the Season 5 Opener. Scroll past this post
I don’t get quite the vibe that Starlight is gone for the entire season. I feel like we’ll see her again sometime this season even if it’s as far as the Finale. It felt like it was implying we’d see her show up again as Starlight wasn’t exactly like Trixie (Who was just a very boastful showpony, she didn’t have an agenda like Starlight did). The theme of the Season is Cutie Mark Magic, just because the Mane 6 foiled her town plan. Doesn’t mean she may go try to find other means to get what she’s after.
I do kinda agree that it wasn’t quite as exciting as some of the other premieres tend to be. And if I ranked the premieres by how much I enjoyed watching them then in comparison the Season 5 premiere might rank lower then I do. But otherwise the feelings of creepiness and less big magic Magic booms at the end is because that’s what the episode was intending. That’s not to say the Season 5 premiere was boring though, just very different from previous premieres where we got in order- Season 1: Nightmare Moon has come back after 1000 years! OH NO! Season 2: The spirit of Chaos has comes back after 1000 years! OH NO! Season 3: The Crystal Empire has return, but with it came the evil King Sombra OH NO! Season 4: The Everfree forest is expanding and kidnapped Celestia and Luna?! OH NO!
I get that. As Season 5 has somepony that has some “equality” plan that would likely take years and years to accomplish. There’s less immediate danger because the Mane 6 could of left that town alone and they would of gone on their little different society a little while longer unless Starlight for some reason wanted to attempt to invade and expand which would actually be a little more detrimental to her plans because obviously the Princesses would come to stop her. Still in terms of what the episode was trying to do I think the episode overall is solid. Remember that I didn’t say it’s my favorite premiere as I still prefer the Season 4 premiere that had it’s own twists and still had a little bit of the bang that premieres usually have. But in an overall sense, the Season 5 opener does what it wants to do better then most of the other premieres.
Today was such a great day thanks to all that Nintendo news. I’ve been in hype mode all night long. The Sonic costume for MK8 and the return of Smash Bros. character speculation being the biggest reasons why.
Hehe, yeah I’m a bit of a rare swearer. But couldn’t help it. It may just be a costume for the Mii but I think it’s great there’s Sonic content in MK8 xD
Suddenly Luigi has been replaced :V
That plus all the Smash Bros. news makes me so happy. :D
This ain’t no April Fools joke! Today we heard the word:
*Mewtwo as Paid DLC arrives April 28th. Those who are eligible to get him free will get him earlier though at around April 15th
*New DLC costumes for Mii Fighters. Pretty neat!
*Lucas is coming back! Smashing is Magic Fluttershy is going to be reaaaaaaaalllllyyyyyy happy :)
*They have a voting ballot for potential DLC that expires on the 1 year anniversery of the release of the 3DS version in North America (BTW I voted for Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog. I REGRET NOTHING)
All in all great news, I am so happy Nintendo is realizing the full potential of DLC with the latest Smash Bros. game :D
